What is Soft Tissue Surgery?

Soft tissue surgery refers to those surgical procedures not involving the bones ( orthopaedic surgery). There are many different types of surgery that fall under this classification.

Some of the procedures we are able to perform include;

  • Splenectomy – removal of the spleen
  • Gastrotomy / enterotomy / resections and anastomosis for foreign bodies and intestinal tumours
  • Gastropexy as a preventative or after stomach bloating and twisting
  • Cystotomies to remove bladder stones
  • Perineal urethrostomies for blocked cats
  • Anal gland removal
  • Tumour removal
  • Reconstructive surgery
  • Wound repair
  • Cherry eye treatment
  • Desexing – spey and castrations
  • Caesarians

Whether your pet needs an emergency procedure or a more complex operation you can feel secure knowing that the veterinarians performing the procedure are highly trained and experienced in providing the best possible outcome for your beloved pet.

Depending on the type of surgery your pet requires, we use a range of anaesthetic techniques to provide the best possible control of pain to make any procedure as comfortable as possible and help speed up the recovery process.

Feel free to discuss any aspect of the procedure with us.
