Meet Our Team
Dr Julie Meadows

Julie graduated from the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine, Davis, in 1988 and practiced as a veterinary GP in California for 20 years, including 10 years owning her own practice. She returned to the University of California Davis in 2008 to further develop their GP training program for veterinary students, focusing on clinical skills and communication.

In 2016, Julie returned to her professional roots, melding her loves of general practice and beaches by becoming lead veterinarian at a practice in Cairns. Sadly, the crocodiles and jellyfish kept her and her husband off those beaches and she ventured to Northern New South Wales in May of 2018 to continue her Australian adventure!

Dr Kirsty Robertson

Kirsty was born and raised in Alice Springs before moving to Townsville to complete her veterinary degree at James Cook University, graduating 2017. Having known she always wanted to be a vet, Kirsty began her career as a kennel hand after school and progressed to nursing in her gap year before making the big move to the tropics.

Kirsty joined the Twin Towns Vet team in January after relocating with her best friend, her labrador x cattle dog, Charlie. They both love the NSW coast and have been enjoying walks along the beach together. Kirsty is passionate about animal welfare, having volunteered for a foster and rehoming organisation during her degree. She also has a special interest in surgery as well as dermatology and is looking forward to meeting all of our lovely clients.

Dr Gina

Gina graduated from Edinburgh University in 2004 and after a few years in practice in the UK, she decided to make the move overseas to Australia. She has been working as a small animal practitioner on the Gold Coast for the last 10 years and enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, particularly soft tissue surgery. She is very passionate about animals and providing the highest level of veterinary care to all her patients. She has a 10 year old boxer cross called Lennox and 3 cats called Enzo, Logan and Indy. She enjoys outdoor adventures and activities, especially camping with her husband and 3 young boys. She looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members.

Dr Dion Woodborne
Orthopaedic and Specialised Soft Tissue Surgeon
  • BVSc
  • MANZCVS (Surgery)

Being born and raised in South Africa, Dion had the kind of introduction into a career in the care of animals that Australian trained vets only get to dream about. As a school leaver, Dion studied Nature Conservation, and worked for 3 years for the Natal Parks Board as a ranger, working amongst the amazing wildlife of Africa on land and at sea. Dion’s exciting experiences include getting up close and personal with Great White Sharks and Seals off the South African Coast, whilst participating in the tagging and monitoring of these magnificent creatures.

Dion completed his Veterinary degree and went on to work in large and small animal practices in South Africa, the UK, and NZ before settling on the Sunshine Coast with his young family.  Their home is a menagerie of creatures, with birds and dogs, and a blue tongue lizard, which Dion and his daughters reared after rescuing it from a roadside as an injured baby. Dion is an avid water sportsman; he has solo swum the English Channel and is now a keen kite boarder.

Dion is passionate about surgery, and in 2011, after rigorous written and oral examinations, he gained his Membership to the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons, in Small Animal Surgery.

Practice Manager

Janine has been with the MyVet group since 2012 and Practice Manager here at Twin Towns Vet since 2014.  She has been a Veterinary Nurse for 16 years and has worked in both emergency and general practice.  She is originally from Auckland, New Zealand, and moved to Australia with her furbaby (and very spoilt only child) Rocky in 2012 and loves the warmer weather.

Janine has always loved animals and is also passionate about the environment (she completed a Bachelor Degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science before coming back to her first love, Veterinary Nursing).  Janine has a special interest in orthopaedic and critical care nursing.  She is also passionate about providing "best-practice" care for the patients and clients at Twin Towns Vet, and loves learning.

Vet Nurse

Gemma has been working with the Twin Towns Vet team for approximately a year now. She has always loved animals - whether they have fur, scales or feathers. She feels very privileged growing up around animals since a young child. This gave her the ambition to pursue nursing 8 years ago and has worked full time in general practice ever since.

Every day after work Gemma goes home to what she loves to call “My Zoo”, which is home to 4 dogs (Cookie 19 years old, Sasha 13 years old, Karlee 9 years old and Mate 3 year olds), 3 Birds (Wendell, Charlie and Bernie), 2 Cats (George and Big Tony) and, lastly Puff the bearded dragon. Some of you may remember Big Tony from when he was the clinic cat at MyVet - he went home with Gemma for Christmas in 2017 and loved it so much there he stayed! Fortunately for these guys they found their forever home with Gemma and while some people say her house must be pretty hectic, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Gemma loves all aspects of nursing but working with a great team is essential and we have that here at Twin Towns Vet! What she enjoys most about the job though is when she has a fearful patient and she earns their trust, making their veterinary treatment a much more pleasant experience. She also has a special interest in dental hygiene, surgery, nutrition and birds.

Vet Nurse

Ali is one of our veterinary nurses, who is passionate about helping animals. She has spent over ten years working in sales with people and then realised she prefers animals more than humans. Ali started her career as a volunteer and soon fell in love with the job and the fabulous team at Twin Towns. In her opinion, working with animals is the most rewarding and fulfilling career she has ever had. Ali and her husband have two fur babies at home, Kuda the wonder doggo and our crazy cat Milky. They love long walks along Burleigh Beach and making doggy friends along the way.

Vet Nurse

Arielle is one of our veterinary nurses with experience in both wildlife and domestic animal nursing and a love for every creature in between! Her passion for veterinary nursing can be traced back to her childhood, where she would always be found rescuing injured wildlife and bringing home new "pets". She feels so fortunate to have been able to transform her love of animals into an incredibly rewarding and exciting career. Arielle lives with her two cats, two dogs, and occasionally some foster kittens will join the family while they await their forever homes. She looks forward to meeting you and your pets at your next visit!
